Life and its consistent inconsistency

I kind of hate writing. I kind of hate trying to organize my thoughts and put it all on a page in a way that makes me feel like other people understand what’s going on in my head and don’t see it as a bunch of rambling. I juggle a pretty hectic life. It was with the best of intentions that I maintain this blog through the school year and keep updating it along the way…. unfortunately I just didn’t find the energy to be able to do that.

Although I kept up with the pottery, obviously the gardening comes to an end when the weather changes. If I havn’t mentioned it in a previous post, during the school year I work as an education assistant, as well as commute about three hours out of my day to get to and from the school I work at. For most of the year I trek through the snow to get to a tram that takes me down to my car and then I drive for about an hour (traffic allowing) to another city east of the ski hill. It’s insane, I know. And honestly it takes a lot out of me (one day in another post I’ll explain my why). Some days just finding the energy to drag myself to the pottery studio after all that was a lot, but I looked at it like therapy. I can sit down and leave all my thoughts, worries and stresses at the door when I sit down at that wheel. All I can do is focus on getting that clay to centre and paying attention to finger placement.

Despite my dwindling energy levels and rise in burnout, I am happy to report that over the last year my consistency has improved! I can now with confidence make two cups at the same time that are pretty identical. Go me. I had put up some of my mugs on Etsy but find the site saturated in pottery. After paying month after month just to keep it posted online I have decided that I’m going to add a shop to this blog and try one more time to maintain it better than the last year. So stay tuned as I add my pottery here on the mnt jen website.
